Seventy boats signed up to fish the Atomik Challenge, a one day six fish tournament as part of the Lake Ontario Triple Crown overall tourny. I am proud to announce that out team finished in the top ten with a limit catch of brown trout and stealhead. We dropped a monster brown at the back of the boat that surely would have had us much closer to the top, but that's fihing. It can happen to all of us.
On Sunday, I had the priviledge to join the Sea Devil/Big Fin team on a beautiful 31ft Tiara to do a little offshore searching for king salmon. Although we didn't get the chance to hook into any mature kings, Emily "Maude" Massina who was fishing with us managed to land a 17.5lb steelhead which lauched her to the top of the summer LOC leader board. If Emily's fish holds up, it is worth 1000.00 dollars in the derby. Not too bad for a day's fishing. It hit a 400 ft copper off of the boards with a spinny and of course, an Atomik fly.(Sherbert "Live")
Nice job Emily! I hope it holds the number one spot for you.
As a side note, this is Emily's first year fishing Lake Ontario.
We have the next couple of days off, but will be heading back onto the water by wed. We have a few openings left at the end of this week and into next week before the Oswego Pro-Am for anyone interested in doing a charter with us.
