I have just started to do the maintenace on my Reels that I use on almost a daily basis fishing Lake Ontario. Towards the end of last year I switched over to dry drag systems on my Shimano Tekota reels and I must say I am impressed with the results.
With the stock drag systems which are greased or "wet", reels that are heavily used should be taken apart ,degreased, and then regreased to start the new season. The dry drags virtually need no service or to be regreased as they are dry to begin with. Another big advantage to the dry drag system is that they do not hydrollically lock as wet drags do, especially the larger surface area drags like those found in the tekota 700 and 800 reels. These are the first set of reels that I changed over to the dry drag system. The results were so impressive that I am switching all of my reels over to the dry drag system. www.tunasreeltroubles.com has the drag system kits that I am installing and have beeen using. Last season I replaced the drags in all of my Tekotas including 600lc's, 700, and 800's. I am now replacing drags in my Quantum Cabos and Daiwas. I can't recomend Tuna Tom's enough. There Dragmaster kits are the best.
I can't wait to go fishing and in anticipation I am offering 10% percent discounts for those who book before the end of this year or purchase gift certificates.
