August Fishing Report 2018
Here’s our August fishing report 2018 for the Oswego,NY Lake Ontario area. We have been very busy as August is known as one of the most popular salmon fishing months. Kings begin staging this time of year in preparation of their spawning runs in the area rivers. This year was no exception. We have been catching king in depths of 50-135 ft of water depending on the day and the boat traffic.
Weekdays have been better for shallow water fishing due to less boat traffic. Weekend warriors do put an enormous amount of pressure on staging fish. We have experienced much better success fishing the deeper water away from most of the pressure. Below are some of our successful August anglers for 2018….
As you can see, many a king came across the transom of the “Ace” in August. As August approached September, more and more adult kings showed up in the mix sporting spawning colors. Although the overall size was a bit less this year, the quantity of kings more than made up for it. We had many limit catches along with ample opportunity to limit out. The bites were there. Angler skill and being able to keep a tight line were paramount to success.
