Bud with a different group of happy striper anglers

striper fishing report first half 2019 Hudson River. Check out our Striper fishing report for the first half of our 2019 ason here at Ace Charters. Fishing out of Coeymans Landing Marina for what is our 20th year is off to a great start. Numbers are up along with some good size specimens being captured.

Ed Boyles and crew tore them up today

Our first trip on the water produced both in he morning and afternoon excursions. Interestingly, our clients boated 17 fish in both the morning and afternoon for a total of 34 fish for the day. Not too shabby by anyone’s account.

Fishing in cold water, 46-48 degrees, we found chunk bait to be our best option. Anchored in 17 ft of water or less was also key to our success. The water has since warmed to 55 degrees or so, and we anticipate switching over to live herring and covering water.

In the beginning, herring were hard to come by. We managed to stoolie some at the Hudson River shoreline. Availability was short lived. A big THANKS is in order to Joe “Bite Me” Morrell for keeping us in bait during some very difficult times in getting them.

Here are some pictures of our clients who endured the rainy, windy and cold spring conditions presented to us this year by Mother Nature !
