Lake Ontario steelhead held by client

Steelhead Fishing

Sea run rainbow trout or steelhead are one of the most nomadic fish in Lake Ontario. Steelhead are an acrobatic species that provide fishing fun especially, on light tackle. June and July are perhaps our better months to target the “Iron Heads” while trolling for brown trout or salmon. Nomadic in nature, its usually best to fish for them as an incidental catch until a school is located. Once you find them, the trolling spread can be switched over to take advantage of their presence. You can read more about our Steelhead fishing charters here.
